Hello Again!

05 February 2015

Hello Again! It's been such a long time since I did a blog post but I did say that I would be back. So here I am!! So many wonderful things have happened these last few months since I've been m.i.a. If you haven't noticed from the picture above, I was preggos and gave birth to the most amazing and beautiful little girl, Kennedy Gabrielle on January 18th. I'm currently on maternity leave and enjoying every second I get to spend with this amazing little person that my husband and I created.

My intentions were to continue blogging and share my journey with dressing my bump but clearly that did not happen. These pictures were the only blog worthy photos I took during my entire pregnancy, I was about 29 weeks here. Shame on me, I know! The truth is I was unbelievably tired throughout my whole pregnancy. I also started a new teaching job in September with a two hour commute both ways which really made it difficult for a preggo gal to then come home to take pics. Not to mention the all day nausea I experienced for the first five months.

But now, I am so happy to be back!! I will be posting pictures from my baby shower and a few pictures of my baby girl soon! I will also start outfit posting again, yay!!

Layering 101

08 March 2014

Layering 101

Anyone who knows me knows I love to layer. I rarely wear just one piece unless it's the summertime and it's 90 degrees out. So, I thought I would create a post on how I like to layer my pieces.

Look 1:
Look 1 features three layers. I love the look of layering a casual dress over a button up shirt. I paired a black & white striped dress over a chambray shirt and  topped the look with a herringbone vest. A pair of tights and booties complete the look.

Look 2:
Look 2 features a striped sweater over a chambray shirt and black skinny jeans. This is my go to look during the Winter. I often will swap out jeans for skinny pants or cords for a work appropriate look. Adding a statement necklace makes the look more interesting and a little dressy too.

Look 3:
Look 3 is the easiest look to create and one of my favorites. I own very similar pieces in my closet and I wear this look all the time in the Spring. You can upgrade a simple tee and jeans outfit by adding a lightweight jacket and a multicolored scarf. One of my favorite jackets is my army green jacket which I wear with pretty much everything. Wearing a floral scarf ties the look and colors together.

ModCloth Challenge
ModCloth: Lead by Example Challenge

Tights: here

Hi! ModCloth recently contacted me to participate in their Uniquely You campaign.  The challenge was to build an ensemble using up to seven additional pieces around one featured piece. A lucky winner will be picked on their Polyvore page. This week's featured piece is their Lead by Example dress! I love this sheath dress; it's sophisticated, simple and looks super comfortable. When styling their Lead by Example dress, I looked for pieces that would complement the style and color. I wanted to create a work friendly outfit that can easily be transitioned to night, suitable for a business dinner, date or drinks with the girls. I decided to pair it with a funky black & white blazer, heels and a scarf and bag to add a punch of color. I love that ModCloth has items for every kind of girl. How would you style this dress?

Shades of Green & Three-fer Thursday Feature

20 January 2014

Outfit Details:
Jacket: J Crew Factory / Sweater: J Crew Factory / Jeans: J Crew / Boots: Banana Republic /
Scarf: Banana Republic

First, I am happy to announce  that I was picked to be a featured look for last week's Three-fer Thursday. How exciting! Go visit Bethany & Meghan to see their other top picks!

This look is one of my go to looks for the Fall/Winter. A bright sweater, a bold scarf and a coat for added warmth and layer. I love the way bright emerald looks with leopard. I've had this Banana Republic scarf for ages! I dry clean it to keep it looking new because I love it so much. I fixed my scarf midway through the shoot and I think it looks 10x better as an infinity scarf. What do you think? Enjoy your week!

Holiday Gift Ideas

Holiday Gift Ideas
Gray Sweater: J Crew/ Peach Sweater: Target / Infinity Scarf: J Crew / Mug: Target / Lip Balm: Target

Hello everyone! I can't believe there's only a few more days until Christmas!! I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday season so far. I'm always a bit of a Scrooge around the holidays and I am a huge procrastinator.  I'm always so indecisive when shopping for others. As a result, I still have many people on my list to shop for. Some items that have caught my eye are these adorable horoscope mugs and this waffle infinity scarf. This mug is a perfect gift for a friend or co-worker and who wouldn't love receiving a nice cozy scarf? I'm also loving these sweaters and their pretty neutral colors. Secretly, this is my Christmas wishlist. I'm sure I'll end up purchasing a few things for myself while doing some last minute shopping. Hope everyone is staying warm.

Hi Everyone! Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with love & laughter! It is that time of the year again, Black Watch Friday! Wearing the black watch pattern on Black Friday has become a little traditional for my hubby & I. Every year on Black Friday, we wear an outfit incorporating the black watch pattern. This year, I'm wearing a Brooks Brothers scarf that I borrowed from my hubby. I paired it with a chunky cable knit sweater in wine and a navy blue corduroy skirt.

Enjoy your weekend & happy shopping!

New Blog Design & My Casual Picks

09 November 2013

Shirt: J Crew / Vest: J Crew /Jeans: J Crew / Scarf: J Crew / Booties: J Crew

Hello Everyone! Today, I'm featuring my picks for a casual weekend outfit. There's nothing I like better than wearing a casual  button up shirt on the weekend. For the Fall temps, I like to layer with a vest and a chunky scarf. A pair of booties or riding boots add a touch of elegance to the outfit. These pics are all from my fav, J Crew. I'm hoping to score this vest or something similar for the Fall, on sale of course!

P.S. I'm so excited to debut my new blog design by Sophie & Rory. Hope everyone likes it as much as I do.

Enjoy your weekend.

Thrift Finds: Silk Scarf

23 June 2013

Thrifting has become a little hobby for the hubby and I. My hubby usually sells his finds on eBay but every once in a while we may find some keepers. One thing I love finding are silk scarves like this gorgeous Hermes one. It's a beauty and I just had to showcase it!!! Seriously, who would get rid of this?

I was super excited when I found this scarf but I've been struggling with how to style it.
So far I've worn it tied to my bag, which I love, but would like to incorporate it with my outfits more. Any ideas?

I will be posting more pics of scarf collection so stay tuned! Hope everyone enjoys their week!

Playing with Patterns

28 April 2013

Hello All! Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! Today, I played with patterns by pairing stripes with floral and leopard. I wear a lot of stripes, one of many obsessions, so I try to mix up my looks by combining a pop of color or patterns. I loved the way my black & white henley popped with the purple pants. The floral scarf tied the look together with the hints of purple in the scarf.
