By the Tracks: Wardrobe Remix

06 April 2014

Outfit Details:
Shirt: Target / Pants: J Crew Factory / Purse: Coach / Flats: J Crew / Necklace: J Crew Factory

Hi everyone! I'm back to remix my polka dot cords with a Spring twist. Previously, I featured it with a sweater and bright flats here. I love these pants and really wanted to make it work for Spring. I'm just not ready to give them up yet. So, I was really excited to find this striped tee at Target the other day for $9. As you know, I can't pass up a striped tee but I did stop myself at purchasing just one. I really love the color and pattern combo of this outfit, although my hubby declared that I did not match. What does he know anyway?

Spring Wishlist

Details:

Hi everyone!! I can't believe it's been so long since my last blog post. What have I been doing you ask? Absolutely nothing; I just decided to unplug for a while. It's been a nice break but now I'm happy to be back to chat with you all.

Anyhoo, I've had a strong urge to do a little Spring shopping and these pieces from J Crew Factory have definitely caught my eye. You can create many different looks with these versatile pieces. But I'm really trying hard to not shop and if I buy another striped shirt my hubby just may kill me. So far, I've purchased the tote and I would really like to purchase the vest and floral scarf. I see these being staples in my Spring wardrobe.

Layering 101

Layering 101

Anyone who knows me knows I love to layer. I rarely wear just one piece unless it's the summertime and it's 90 degrees out. So, I thought I would create a post on how I like to layer my pieces.

Look 1:
Look 1 features three layers. I love the look of layering a casual dress over a button up shirt. I paired a black & white striped dress over a chambray shirt and  topped the look with a herringbone vest. A pair of tights and booties complete the look.

Look 2:
Look 2 features a striped sweater over a chambray shirt and black skinny jeans. This is my go to look during the Winter. I often will swap out jeans for skinny pants or cords for a work appropriate look. Adding a statement necklace makes the look more interesting and a little dressy too.

Look 3:
Look 3 is the easiest look to create and one of my favorites. I own very similar pieces in my closet and I wear this look all the time in the Spring. You can upgrade a simple tee and jeans outfit by adding a lightweight jacket and a multicolored scarf. One of my favorite jackets is my army green jacket which I wear with pretty much everything. Wearing a floral scarf ties the look and colors together.

Striped Sleeves

02 March 2014

Outfit Details:
Shirt: J Crew / Jeans: Old Navy / Heels: Banana Republic / Bag: Cole Haan / Necklace: J Crew

Hi!! Yup, these are the same pair of jeans and heels from my previous outfit post! I love to pair simple t-shirts with jeans and heels. As you know, I am obsessed with stripes! I was so excited when I found this solid navy t-shirt with stripes on the sleeves. Since I didn't own anything like it, I had to buy it to add to my stripes collection. Adding a  necklace brings the perfect amount of sparkle to the outfit.

ModCloth: Lead by Example Challenge

Tights: here

Hi! ModCloth recently contacted me to participate in their Uniquely You campaign.  The challenge was to build an ensemble using up to seven additional pieces around one featured piece. A lucky winner will be picked on their Polyvore page. This week's featured piece is their Lead by Example dress! I love this sheath dress; it's sophisticated, simple and looks super comfortable. When styling their Lead by Example dress, I looked for pieces that would complement the style and color. I wanted to create a work friendly outfit that can easily be transitioned to night, suitable for a business dinner, date or drinks with the girls. I decided to pair it with a funky black & white blazer, heels and a scarf and bag to add a punch of color. I love that ModCloth has items for every kind of girl. How would you style this dress?

Cobalt Blue

23 February 2014

Outfit Details:
Sweater: J Crew Factory / Shirt: Old Navy / Jeans: Old Navy / Necklace: J Crew Factory
Heels: Banana Republic

Hi!! I'm finally back with an outfit post!! I'm officially out of hiding since the weather has been considerably warm the past few days. Although these photos aren't the best, I still wanted to share because I really like this outfit. I guess my hubby was right about the white background, whatever! I hate when he's right.

I normally don't wear blue but this sweater was on sale over the holidays and I really liked the fit and style. I'm glad I did because I've worn it several times so far. I've been wearing it with mostly black and grays to work but switched it up by wearing it with denim and layers. It went perfectly with my polka dot button up and tan heels.

Hope everyone has a fantastic and productive week. It's back to work for me after a week off, yippee! That was said with complete sarcasm.
